Yes, you heard right. ZEE5 has come up with some interesting Urdu drama about life and the perils of the journey around it.
Just the other day I was telling a friend how I would continuously watch different shows from 5 pm to 1 am every day without fail. But this was back when I was new in Bangalore until I delivered my firstborn. During that time, I had watched so much television that once I started belly dancing I would not even turn on the idiot box.
Then when channels began being available as apps on the mobile, I would watch one episode of one series almost every night after dinner. Now, during the lockdown, the apps have helped quite a bit. I have managed to complete a few shows every month. Moreover, ZEE5 has a few Zindagi shows that would require a subscription BUT, the first episode is free so that you can assess whether you would like to continue watching the rest of the show or not. Interesting isn’t it?
Aunn Zara – This is about the life of Aunn (Osman Khalid Butt, a well-known Pakistani actor) and Zara (Maya Ali, a Pakistani actress and model). Aunn is treated like a child as he is the only male member at home. Zara, the daughter of a retired army general, is brave and has a mind of her own. The fun starts when they marry for different reasons and wind up living all by themselves. While getting their lives together, another love story blooms.
Shehr-E-Zaat – The story revolves around the life of Falak (Mahira Khan, a popular VJ turned Pakistani actress), a girl who has it all. While doing her thesis, she carves out the man of her dreams and rejects a marriage proposal brought to her by her parents. She gets introduced to Salman, who resembles her sculpture and Falak is smitten by his personality. She chases him until he asks her to marry him. After a difficult marriage, she turns to the Almighty to lead her on the right path.
Badi Aapa – This story is about the life of a respected woman, Zubeida aka Badi Aapa (played by Savera Nadeem, a Pakistani actress). Zubeida was in love with another man yet married Farman. She tries to control her husband and daughter as much as possible, but in vain. Finally, she thinks of doing the unthinkable while her whole family wonders about her intentions behind it.
Mastana Mahi – This love story of Adal (Fahad Mustafa, a well-known Pakistani television actor) and Aaleen (Mehreen Raheel, a Pakistani model, television host and actor) is unique. You will surely want to know the whole story when Aaleen marries a man her father’s age and Adal, the son of a politician, is forced to marry a child bride, whom he accepts as his wife after falling in love and marrying Aaleen.
Noorpur ki Rani – This story is about an orphaned girl Noorie (Sanam Baloch, a popular face in Urdu cinema) who dreams of being a princess as opposed to how her life really is. But fate has better plans for her when her mere presence changes the lives of a royal couple who is having a terrible marital life.
Main Abdul Qadir Hoon – This is a story of Abdul Qadir (Fahad Mustafa again) who is a docile and kind-hearted man. He gets influenced by Zareen’s (Alishba Yousuf, a Pakistani VJ and television actress) boldness and she rejects him only to be employed by his mother later on in life.
