Amazed, I would admire you
believing your soul as great as your smile.
Little did I know
you were empty for more than a mile.
The show on the outside was
heart-warming and bold.
But the moment situations changed
your shoulder to me turned cold.
Tried hard in vain
and smiled at you despite your jibes.
But I shuddered at your sudden aloofness
and the eliminating negative vibes.
Many a times I’ve heard
that first impressions last.
But while the first was a hit
the tenth was aghast.
Unsure of what’s between us
I try to clear my mind.
But memories, of your harsh words
in my head, you’ve left behind.
I’ve always wanted a friend
in whom I could confide.
But as my secrets travelled places
from you, I could only hide.
On my face you smile
showing you like me a lot.
But behind my back you rattle away
sending me deep in thought.
Stepping up in life
was your dream come true.
Old friends you’ve forgotten
while surrounded by the rich and new.
Seasons come and seasons go
the feelings have faded away.
Only your empty soul is what I remember
every single day.

Thank you, Amritha!
This poignant poem explores the contrast between outward appearances and inner turmoil, and is a reminder to look beyond the surface in our interactions with others.
This is a very poignant and nice poem, that gives vent to the deepest feelings of the heart and the mind. It is romantic and at the same time touching.
Thank you!

Beautiful poetry Cindy. Loved it
Beautiful poem. I loved how you have said things so effortlessly which we can’t convert easily. Great job.
To be honest I empathize with both the sides in the poem. I see and feel the pain for who speaks but it is in my eyes i can see the loneliness of the one standing alone with the riches and putting up a show. Must need courage for both to be there say nothing at all and see the bond get destroyed every single day
Wow love your writing, a good writer is someone who can write about anything.
Ouch! Someone has clearly hurt you! I hope writing this poem proved cathartic in some way!
Not really. But I felt better after I wrote it.
I didn’t know that you are an active poet. I am planning to make a community of poetry lovers. I would love you to join me because you are a poet who writes from the bottom of your heart.
Thanks, Rakhi!

Lovely poem Cindy. I have like a long list of people who have unfortunately falling into the description of this poem. But, I chose to leave them behind and tread ahead with my loved ones π
Yup. Just concentrate on the people who love you!
lovely poem Cindy…I hate these kind of people who just not spurt our secrets but also tear us down by back biting….if have courage speak right in front of our face, but no they don’t have spine to do this.
Sadly, that is true. But anyway…
Lovely.. beautifully written poem. It pains heart to know people share our secrets to others..
Yes and how they change for the worst according to situations!
