A New Year’s resolution is a promise to yourself, or a decision to do something that will improve your behaviour or lifestyle in some way. Many believe it is auspicious, to start working towards fulfilling their resolutions, on January 1st of the New Year. I started making New Year resolutions a few years ago. I have accepted the fact that it takes around two years to be able to fulfill them completely. Nevertheless, it is always good to have resolutions that are positive and that make you a better person.

Read about some lessons learnt in the past decade.

Do read my fellow blogger Meenal’s list of resolutions every woman should make here.

resolutions for 2020
Welcoming the year 2020

Here are my New Year resolutions that I feel are absolutely necessary for my well-being.

  1. WRITE MORE                                : Since the blog trains, I took part in, in April this year, I haven’t written a single article unless it was sponsored. If you have some ideas, please email me on [email protected] and I will try and write on the topics suggested by you. Of course, with topic credits to you. Come on, send soon!

  2. DANCE MORE                               : I have stopped belly dancing since my son began Montessori because in the midst of picking and dropping and feeding and putting him to sleep, the exhausted me just wants to sit and finish my influencer work before the deadlines. So, time needs to be allotted, to shake my body and feel free, soon.

  3. BIRTHDAY CALLS                          : Though I remember many birthdays whether I like the person or not, I don’t call them for various reasons. But now, I’ll make a list of my close friends and call them on their special day or a couple of days later; close family included.

  4. MOTHER-CHILD DATES                : I found this very advantageous for both of us when my daughter and I went out alone. Off lately, things have changed at home, but I need to get back to taking my kids out individually, in order to know them better and also to spend quality time with each of them.

  5. DATE NIGHTS                               : Now that FIL has come to live with us, maybe I should make it a point to go out with the husband for date nights every week. Or perhaps twice a month? Let me check with him, on his availability. This should be fun!

  6. TRAVEL MORE                              : In the year 2017, we travelled like crazy for weddings, functions, holidays, events, girl trips, boy trips, etc. and then in 2018, we went out of the country a couple of times. But this year, we have only gone to Kerala and Bandipur for a few days. Hopefully, 2020 is our year of travel again!

  7. FIND A JOB                                   : Yeah! It’s time to update my resume and get things going again! I plan to look for a project that will keep me busy every day. This is vital for my sanity.

  8. DRINK MORE WATER                  : I have been so bad at drinking water that I need a mobile reminder to hydrate myself unless I’m parched. Another reason, I don’t enjoy drinking anything, is because Mother Nature calls me too often. I’m sure some of you can relate to that. So, I have to consciously make an effort to drink water regularly. Actually, this needs to be on top of my list.

  9. STOP EATING JUNK                      : Those who are following me on Instagram, know that I already have a healthy lifestyle and sleep well. But, then temptation comes to everyone, and sadly, I have succumbed to that lately, due to which I need to get back to my healthy eating before I turn into a football.

  10. GET RID OF UNWANTED STUFF   : Generally, every three months, I make it a point to get rid of the unwanted toys and kids’ clothing. Now, I should start the same with my clothes too.

These are some of the resolutions I have made for 2020. I’ll probably do a follow-up article on this at the end of the year. Do wish me all the best so I have the strength to implement my own plans to be a better version of myself. Have you made your resolutions yet? What are your two main resolutions for 2020?
