empty soul

empty soul

Amazed, I would admire you
believing your soul as great as your smile.
Little did I know
you were empty for more than a mile.

The show on the outside was
heart-warming and bold.
But the moment situations changed
your shoulder to me turned cold.

Tried hard in vain
and smiled at you despite your jibes.
But I shuddered at your sudden aloofness
and the eliminating negative vibes.

Many a times I’ve heard
that first impressions last.
But while the first was a hit
the tenth was aghast.

Unsure of what’s between us
I try to clear my mind.
But memories, of your harsh words
in my head, you’ve left behind.

I’ve always wanted a friend
in whom I could confide.
But as my secrets travelled places
from you, I could only hide.

On my face you smile
showing you like me a lot.
But behind my back you rattle away
sending me deep in thought.

Stepping up in life
was your dream come true.
Old friends you’ve forgotten
while surrounded by the rich and new.

Seasons come and seasons go
the feelings have faded away.
Only your empty soul is what I remember
every single day.

empty soul
Pin it with a smile!

This poignant poem explores the contrast between outward appearances and inner turmoil, and is a reminder to look beyond the surface in our interactions with others.

To be honest I empathize with both the sides in the poem. I see and feel the pain for who speaks but it is in my eyes i can see the loneliness of the one standing alone with the riches and putting up a show. Must need courage for both to be there say nothing at all and see the bond get destroyed every single day
