Step 4: Apply the hair colour evenly throughout the strands.
Step 5: Put on a shower cap on your head and allow it to rest for 25-30 minutes.

You will obviously not want your hair colour to look dull and faded within a few days. Keep these ‘don’ts’ in mind while colouring your hair in order to improve your hair colouring experience.
After the initial hair wash, you must wait at least 72 hours before shampooing your hair. This time frame allows the cuticles to seal in the hair colour pigments, preventing the hair colour from bleeding and fading quickly.
Semi-permanent hair colours in vibrant shades are a great option for those who want to colour their hair in a bright, vibrant hue and want to make their own style statement with highlights, lowlights, balayage or global hair colour. Semi-permanent hair colour may not be a good option if you want to cover your grays because gray hair is non-porous, making it resistant to hair colour. Moreover, gray hair lacks melanin and natural oil, which is present in natural hair, making it difficult for the colour pigments to deposit on the surface of strands.

Wear your gloves before applying the hair colour to prevent your hands from staining. Wearing gloves allows easy and even application of the hair colouring product; you can easily saturate each strand with the colouring product.
Wearing old clothes while colouring your hair helps protect your good clothes from staining.
Cool tones with bluish undertones, such as purple, violet, blue and green, create a feeling of relaxation and serenity. Warm tones such as red, yellow and orange generate warmth and energy. Experts say it is not advisable to apply cool colour tones on top of warm-toned hair colour, as it won’t be aesthetically pleasing.
Beginning your hair-colouring journey is like riding a unicorn on a rainbow. It is a journey filled with fun, excitement and adventure. So what are you waiting for? Grab your favorite hair colour and brush, channel your Picasso, and paint the town with vibrant colours. Colour your hair with pride, making your own style statement with Colorisma.
1. Which Hair Colour Is Best For Beginners?
When it comes to hair colouring, follow the thumb rule: Colour your hair 2 shades darker or 2 shades lighter to get subtle, more natural-looking tresses. But again, rules are sometimes meant to be broken. So, using Colorisma colours is a good beginning to your hair colouring journey.
2. Which Part Of The Hair Should You Colour First?
It would help if you coloured the root first, as it needs more processing time.
3. How Is Anveya Colorisma’s Smart Semi-Permanent Hair Colour Different From Others?
Many hair colours damage your hair, but Colorisma Smart semi-permanent hair colour with Hair Bond Tech Hyaplex repairs the damaged strands and nourishes the strands while coloring them. It is more like a hair treatment for the damaged strands.
4. How Long Does The Colour Last?
Your hair colour lasts up to 8-10 washes. The longevity of your hair colour also depends on the level of bleach, heat styling and your regular hair care practices.

I’ve actually never coloured my hair till date but I know I will have to someday! Good tips!
I used to have highlights but never colored my hair though as there are a lot of things to follow. This is one good list of tips though.
I have never experimented with hair color cz I am scared of the lengthy caretaking process.
I had virgin hair before a couple of months when I started applying henna after everyone started pointing out my grey hair. This information is really helpful, especially for beginners like me.
I am always washing my hair with shampoo after colour. I never tried this Courisma. But now wants to try hair colour specially pink or blue. Just for a fun part. But always worried for hair loss.
fear engulfs me when I hear hair colouring as doing nothing to my hair other than washing and conditioning also hair fall is so evident but someday I may need this one.
I have never experimented with hair color apart from covering the grays. I have stopped doing that now too. More out of compulsion than choice. The guide definitely has some practical tips we usually overlook.
I stopped coloring my hair a long time back. You are absolutely right about not shampooing. Most of the color washes away.
Hey Cindy, loved this guide on hair coloring. But I dont know why I am bit traditional with my hair color and find the natural black as the best color suiting Indian Skin tone. Many of my friends are doing hair coloring and they look good in it. It can also be the thing that I am not confident if coloring will look good on me or not. I am going to recommend Colorisma to my friends fond of coloring their hair to look vibrant and trending. But kindly elaborate what exactly it means by Pre-lighten your hair. What need to be done to do so? Looking forward for your answers.
Hey no pressure. This is only for those looking to colour their hair. I don’t colour my hair at all after the 2009 fiasco. Pre-lighten means bleach types. Required for the bright colours to look their actual colour.
Hair coloring–a topic that’s so controversial. I started coloring while in college just for style and now with the greys, its a pain. I wanted to have highlights, but I’m not sure how to maintain it, with greys all around. But for beginners, your guide and tips are good, with enough details not to overwhelm.
Yeah, Janaki, its for the people who want to colour.
I’m not a fan of loud hair colours but when the subject of hair colouring is mentioned, I could only remember one hilarious story which is when my dad asked me to colour his hair. Not really knowing what I’m doing, I simply somewhat smudged his whole head with the cream-like thing. Thinking the colour would just wash off from his skin, I smothered even his sideburns and the little hair he had near his nape. Guess, my thinking was all wrong as the colour didn’t washed off from his skin. He looked like elvis with his thick sideburns and ink-like nape! He had to wear a turtleneck sweatshirt to office the next day!haha
Hahahaha! That’s hilarious, Jeannine. I can actually imagine the forced turtle-neck to work with a frown peobably. And maybe a smile.
To avoid all the hassle, its best to go to a salonπ€ͺ but the place where i go to, the lady doesnt let me lighten my hair for shades that i choose so i have to stick to the ones that dont need lightening. Its really nice that these colours don’t damage the hair cuz usually my hair becomes super dry and rough after colour, even though i only do streaks/highlights. The shades are so tempting but i can’t risk doing a semi permanent orange or purple…
This step-by-step instructions for coloring with Colorisma are clear and easy to follow. π I was just pondering the idea of giving my hair a colorful makeover. I mean, who needs plain old black hair when you can have a blast of color, right? It’s funny how memories of my college days flood back β that one time I tried a DIY hair color experiment with a supermarket product. I was aiming for fiery red, but the result? Well, let’s just say I ended up with a shade that was more orange than a pumpkin at Halloween! ππ
HAhahaha, Felicia! Orange! I have an episode like that too. Need to blog about it. Need to find pix first.
I wish I could colour my hair now but dont want to risk losing the scanty hair i have left. A friend of mine has bluestreaks and it looks good on her. Colorisma seems interesting and I will surely check it out.
Wow blue!!!
Neon colours on hair is in this season. But I am always scared if it would damage my hair. Happy to know that we have a solution to the worry and we have a go to solution for hair coloring
Your guide to colouring hair through Colorisma is very detailed and easy to follow. I am not bold when it comes to colouring hair but I do feel a hair colour changes one’s look greatly and is a great way to create a different look.
Whaw that was some beautiful guide to hair colouring. It is very necessary to know what do’s and dont’s u have to look into before colouring ur hair.
Cindy, this guide on hair coloring with Colorisma is fantastic! But I have to admit, I’m a bit of a mess when it comes to DIY projects, and I’m pretty sure I’d create a colorful disaster if I tried this at home! π Your guide is super informative, though, I will consider a salon visit for my hair color adventure.
Actually, I always wanted to colour my hair the multi-way, as one can see in the picture. I always thought that looked fabulous. But now with all greys, I guess I need a different technique. This is a great guide, wish I had come across this sooner.
This guide is very informative and tells about dos and don’t. I frequently apply colors but would love to read about after color hair care as I have a lot of hair fall. Notbsure if it is due to the hair color or just hormones acting crazy. But definitely an effective beginner guide for hair coloring journey.
Hairfall is due to various reasons. Check and identify.
I so wanted to color my hair. At least some highlights, but often scared of the damage that causes. Normally I am loosing so much hair. I wish to try this out.
