The times I want to give up.
Give up on love,
Give up on responsibilities,
Give up on life.
Realization strikes.
Through the stress,
Through the pain,
Through the perils.
The perks.
The little people,
The innocent eyes,
The hugs and kisses.
The blessings.
The family,
The friends,
The ones who matter.
The sorrow.
When I’m gone,
When they give up,
Because I gave up.
Life is beautiful.
Despite the hardships,
Despite the monotony,
Despite the rain.
Focus on the positives.
The love,
The care,
The chances.
Never give up.
Show up,
For another lovely day,
With a smile.
Inner peace and happiness are important to get us through the uncertainties of life. Life is hard, at times. But it can also be beautiful. Over time, I’ve come to realize that our lives depend totally on how we take care of ourselves, how we handle ourselves and how much we love ourselves. If we focus on the negatives in things and people, our lives take a negative turn. When we strive to look for the positive side of things (and people, however annoying), life is better, brighter and most of all, enjoyable. God sent us into this world for a purpose. Find it and we will surely find peace. Besides, we are the world to some people, so never give up. Read the first sentence of every verse and smile! 😀
PS: This poem was lying in my drafts for a long time. Before today, it had a different title, different verses and no proper ending. I would like to thank the hosts for letting this poem pop out of my notes and see the world. I hope it inspires!

such a gentle but a quick reminder through poetry to never give up but often that thought comes to us and goes too.
yay, you’re so welcome Cindy and I’m glad the hop and us as hosts helped bring this one out from your drafts and reach many readers.
The piece captures the internal struggle between surrender and resilience so well. The gentle reminder to focus on life’s blessings and to never give up, even when overwhelmed, is both comforting and inspiring.
Thank you again, Manali!
Your words reminded me that even in our darkest moments, the love of family and the beauty of life can reignite our will to persevere. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt piece that resonates with so many.
Thank you for appreciating, Jeannine.
Today is indeed one of those days that I had to hear such beautiful lines! Thank you for this! It brings so much positivity and motivation that I needed.
Glad it made you feel better, Shalini!
Reading the 1st line from each paragraph makes it such a beautiful reminder to ‘Never Give Up’. The poem is full of positivity and optimism, which is so needed in today’s daunting world.
Beautiful message on carrying on despite everything. I went back and read the first line of every stanza and a new poem emerged!
Thanks, Sonia!
So straightforward and uplifting! Loved how the first lines of each verse comes together to give the gist of the hope embedded in the poem.
Thanks, Manisha.
Such a raw and honest poem! You have captured that quiet battle between hope and doubt so beautifully. Feels so relatable, yet your words quietly remind us why we keep going.
Thanks, dear.
Lovely poem Cindy… You have managed to convey a profound message through simple words.
It may seem an ‘easy to do thing’ but adapting this philosophy is difficult and almost impossible for many cuz we humans are needy by nature. Nonetheless, feeling gratitude and finding joy in the little things is paramount and it does make a huge difference in our outlook towards life.
Thank you, Kaveri.
Focus on the chances – I loved that thought. Life has so much to offer and if we can keep coming back to it, the other stuff becomes bearable. This was such an uplifting poem Cindy 🙂
Thanks, Suchita!
This poem feels like you capturing my thoughts on many days. This inspires me to be ok with doubting myself but also accept and believe in one day at a time. This learning curve of life is beautifully penned by you. Thank you for such a thoughtful poem!
Life isn’t the same all the time. It’s a mix of sunshine and rainy days. Your poetry beautifully reminds us to focus on the positives even when things feel tough. The line “Besides, we are the world to some people, so never give up” truly hits home!
Cindy, the way you have written the inspiring words, it helps us, readers, to look back the road we have travelled so far and feel proud of ourselves for conquering the challenges we faced. Thanks for writing this beautiful poem. Kudos!
Thanks, Swarnali!
Your poem is inspiring, and thanks for reminding us that happiness lies in little moments of life that we’ve to appreciate. We must never forget to look at the little surprises of our lives that often go unnoticed.
It is so important to show up and not give up. Your poem underlines the doubts we often feel, especially when we feel that we are not important to others, and those moments of despair when our emotions plummet to unimagined depths. However, self-care and self-love are enough to pull us through. If we value ourselves, validation, even if not required, will follow. Thank you for sharing this poem.
Thank you, Deepti!
Life is often baffling if not frustrating. We need to discover joy nevertheless. Your lines inspire the readers towards that joy.
Thank you, Tomichan!
I’ve had my own moments when giving up felt easier than trying again, and your words put a name to that messy mix of hope and hesitation. I kept nodding along as you unraveled those tiny, daily doubts that grow into mountains in our minds. And the way you brought in small details—it felt like you were holding my hand through my own inner fight. There’s such a raw honesty in admitting you’re at the edge of quitting, but not quite stepping over. I felt the tension, the pull between wanting to surrender and wanting to hold on. And when the poem didn’t hand me an answer, I realized that it’s okay not to have one sometimes. Thank you for writing that—it’s like you gave a voice to my silent, stubborn part that just can’t let go. Seriously, beautifully done and deeply felt.
Thank you, Romila!
It take great strength to sustain positive thoughts at our lowest but that storm we pass through is also what transforms us. Not giving up on yourself is the driving force to the end of the tunnel! Thank you for sharing this Cindy!
The pleasure is mine, Anusha.
This reminded me that just a day prior to the Air India flight mishap, we were also flying on an AI flight. Life is really unpredictable. We have to live the moments we get, through sorrow and happiness.
True, Reubenna.
