Not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but every few years, I somehow lose my photo collections, also the ones which have been stored online. Let me begin with the Airlift period when we left my childhood photo albums behind and carried only the essentials. My mother regrets it till today. According to her, if her mind was working at that time, she would have removed the family photos from the albums and carried them along with us to India. She would still have the memories with her.
Now, after the arrival of digital cameras, hard drives and online storage facilities, I’ve again lost photos due to corrupted hard drives and damaged files. I store my photos with such efficiency in separate folders according to the year, month and event that it is very easy for one to find them when required. But, alas, all my organizing skills were useless when the hard drives crashed a couple of times.
That’s when I decided to print my most favourite family photos and put them in a photobook. I have ordered softcover photobooks a couple of times before, so this time I chose one with a hard cover. And I was not disappointed!
It was quite a task to collect all the photos I wanted in print. Once you do that, you can select a product that you would like to print your memories on. There are options like frames, calendars, just prints, photobooks, etc. Of course, I chose a photobook. Arranging the photos, editing them on the Zoomin App and finalizing the photobook took a couple of days to complete. You can work on the website and App simultaneously but I found it better to work on the App as the website gave me a little trouble while editing.
I also ordered a couple of spiral notebooks with my kids’ names on each of them.
The products took some time to arrive as the courier partner initially had some issues with delivering to my address. Nevertheless, all the items arrived safe and sound.
As you know, a photobook is not for any ‘use’ as such but to enjoy whenever you want to recall lovely moments. It is also something to bring out when old friends or school mates come over to visit. Don’t we all love our fun days captured in a photobook? My photobook has a hardcover and neatly contains all the family photos that I had chosen and arranged in the correct spaces. So, we all definitely love our family photobook. I can already see myself creating more photobooks after vacations, family get-togethers, other special occasions, etc.
My kids also loved their respective personalized notebooks.
Some of the enlarged pictures are slightly pixelated maybe because I had chosen photos that have been clicked with mobile cameras in various lighting. However, the ones from better mobile cameras, SLR/DSLR cameras are clear and perfect.
Also, I do think that the software could be a little more efficient in terms of not pixelating low-resolution images. Had I known, I would have re-arranged or replaced them accordingly. I suggest that you sort your photos beforehand under high-resolution or not. If you can identify which of these will get pixelated at what size, then creating a photobook here would be a piece of cake.
As a book of memories, this is a keepsake that my family will love to go through for years to come. Having a photobook by our side, saving family photos just gets easier as our memories stay with us, no matter what! My digital-age kids are loving it already. They now want another one for storing their memorable photos with FRIENDS! On it…
Have you tried getting your photos printed through Zoomin? What did you order and how was your experience?
