Do you remember what happened in March 2020? I just re-read my post and realized that 2020 also started with bad/sad news. But this year, March is taking the cake.
This was supposed to be the last month of my pregnancy, and normally, I would be restless. But so much has happened to keep me occupied and busy that I was only a little restless when going to bed. Then, the writer just had a brainwave and the fingers automatically started typing. I just had to!
There are things that have happened the world over (by God and man), and then there are things that have happened around me, in my life. Let’s put these two together to see how March 2026 just zoomed by (showing us the good, the bad and the ugly). Just to keep me busy.
Besides remembering the COVID outbreak exactly 6 years ago this month, many of us have celebrated, seen or felt:
Totally unnecessary to start the month with. As the attack happened on 28 February 2026, many of us entered March by praying for world peace, hoping the retaliation would not result in another World War. A lot of friends and family are in the Gulf. So, besides the exaggerated news, we also got updates from our near and dear ones. We are still praying for their safety, though they tiringly joke that they are having Diwali there (due to the various sounds).

While many around Bangalore showed off the pink paradise because of the numerous blooms of the Pink Trumpet trees, I was showing off the yellow paradise near my home, courtesy the Golden Trumpet trees. Both colours looked beautiful, nevertheless.

Some of us had a nice time celebrating this day with our girl friends. An outing, an experience, despite the heat, was all we wanted.
In the midst of all this, while parts of the world couldn’t sleep due to the multiple sirens around them and were praying for peace, we in India were wondering which day we could celebrate Holi. Plenty of memes on this, which were all over the internet. But, the kids had a good time.
This is something most of us who have children were going through. March is generally a very tense month with parents yelling, children studying, and books kept open all over the house. While board exams were cancelled for all in March 2020, this year they have been cancelled only for the students living in the Middle East as they were facing different challenges. The rest of us went through the exam grind as usual.
A Hindu festival that is observed for 9 days. It requires those following it to fast until Lord Ram’s birthday on 27th March.
The Muslim festival that was celebrated on March 20, 30 days after Ramadan (a month of fasting that began on February 18).
A period of 40 days during which Christians fast or abstain in memory of Jesus. It began on February 18 and ends with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday (the third day when Jesus rose from the dead) next month (April).

Just a day after I entered my 9th month, we had a short circuit and fire incident at home (Thursday, March 12), which let the soot and black smoke settle on everything all over the house. Due to the mess, we had to stay at friends’ houses for around 5 nights.
Exactly a week later, another short circuit occurred right outside our community and a couple of days after that, a fuse blew out in the transformer. Phew! We were experiencing our own Diwali!
The day after our fire incident at home, there was an intruder who tried to break into some of the villas in our gated community. Everyone was safe but all of us were alert thereafter.
Due to the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, India has been facing a shortage of LPG this month. There are plenty of memes about this, but there are also people sadly suffering due to this disruption.
For those living in Bangalore, we know how we experienced cold winds, crazy heat, heavy rains and hailstorms in a matter of a week.
The heat was also getting to us the previous week! God bless us in April and May (which are normally the hottest months of the year). It still randomly rains on some nights.
This Hindi movie was released on 19 March. After watching and enjoying the first part, we were hoping to watch it this month despite the mixed reviews. But now it will only be next month, I guess. Would it be better on the large screen or on OTT? What do you think?
I have no clue about this, but there was a World Cup game for which a screening was arranged inside our community right after the Holi celebration. I think India won! So, that happened, too!

Godh Bharai (which literally means ‘filling the lap’) is a traditional Hindu Baby shower wherein friends and family bless the mom-to-be with gifts, fruits and sweets. To my surprise, my friend’s mother-in-law did a small ritual on me and showered me with a few things when I went to their house to have some yummy home-made dhoklas. Yes, I love dhoklas.

Ten days later, my girl friends organized a baby shower and surprised me with food and gifts! I was totally amazed with their looks and arrangements. Due to the fire incident and work at home, another guy friend picked and dropped me from home to destination and back. Blessed!

Two weeks after that, another bunch of friends arranged a baby shower that included my hubby, too. It was a lovely gesture, especially the unique gift prepared especially for me (which was blue rare hahaha).

I was hoping all would be well, so I could attend this event and I was happy I got to meet so many of the influencers and bloggers whom I had missed meeting after the pandemic. The pandemic slowed things down and there were very few or no events happening. This was a good reunion at the Shangri-La hotel, Bangalore.
Also, managed to squeeze a meeting with my Kuwait school classmate after more than 2 decades.
So, as you can see, there were plenty of things to keep me busy during this month. Also, my BP began climbing in the beginning of March due to no activity but stress around me. Towards the end of the month, I got back to walking, did some exercises and watched TV to chillax. The summer holidays have begun, I don’t have to wake up at 6am, and so I’m more relaxed now.
Today, 31 March, I had another gynaecologist’s appointment, and everything was fine. I’ve to just wait and watch and keep monitoring my BP (which I have never done before). Please pray for me, so that all is well.

How did your March go? Anything unusual you want to tell us about?
PS: Did you realize that Navratra, Lent and Ramadan all overlapped? Is that a sign that we need to stop fighting with each other, follow our religion in peace and respect other religions, too?
