Home is where my MOM is

Today, after a long time, I sat to watch “Koffee with Karan”. I usually watch it when he invites people who interest me in some way. At the moment, it was Mrs FunnyBones aka Twinkle Khanna. I was never a fan of her while she acted but somehow she, now, interests me. I admire her way of writing, with wit and humour, about the current affairs of the country. I don’t even read the news on newspaper or television.

So, while I watched her behave just like me; hopelessly honest and simply straightforward, I got drawn toward her. When her husband sang “Strangers of the Night” for her, I sort of fell in love with that moment. His voice wasn’t that bad either. Suddenly, I thought of doing something for someone close to me. Several things came to mind so I started with my Mother; the one and only woman who loves me, unconditionally. She loves coffee. I’ve just started inhaling some peace by painting, though I’m no professional. I paint like a kid but I paint with my heart, however horrible the result turns out to be.

I got a few images, as I have no imagination of my own, and put them together. Here is how it has turned out. The coffee mug simply symbolizes love while the napkins are around to clean her tears while I’m far and cannot do that for her. The spoon is supposed to stir and dissolve the mixed emotions she feels when she talks to us on the telephone, from miles away. The toasts, look-alike, denote the bond shared by her and her grand-daughter because they both enjoy dipping them in the coffee together.

Just like the coffee mug is signed for Karan Johar, by the participants on the show, I wrote a message for my Mother. Do give your comments.
