I’m not sure how to describe this wonderful day! I know we have to be grateful to the one above for allowing us to experience another of his bright and sunny views but, seriously, this one was just one of those days you want to shove under your pillow and sleep! Hesitantly, I woke up and found that I was blessed with the flu which gifted me sore throat, runny nose, watery eyes and an aching body. But being a mother, one has to get up no matter what the situation! So, painfully, after making sure everyone in the house was given their breakfast, I sat down to satisfy my own hunger!
Interestingly, after picking up the morning paper from the front door, usually giving less heed, I began reading it! The mere mention, in bold, of 1st husband, 2nd husband and 3rd husband intrigued me! Who was this woman they were reporting about? This reminded me of the famous series in my teenage days ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’, where I had to make a chart in order to understand who was married to whom and which child belonged to which couple! Reading further, I knew that a murder case was being talked about and the results of the investigations were spread out over 3 pages of the newspaper, some of it recurrent! Wow! What fame! While sipping on my morning milk, I actually wasted time reading 3 pages about a mother killing her own child. What has this world come to?
After breakfast, I tried to call for an appointment with the doctor and realized my cell phone had decided to time lock itself. I neither had the energy to visit a mobile un-locker, if there was one that existed, nor the doctor without an appointment! Neither could I fling my phone out the window for dying on me when I needed it the most! Frustrated, I went to the kitchen to find what I could prepare for lunch! Later that evening, I searched on the internet if I could find ways to unlock my phone but despite the various methods mentioned online and ample peer support I received from across the globe, I couldn’t! Everything was barred! Thanks to my home Wi-Fi connection, I had some link to the outside world!
My child came home from school and after lunch, I went to rest for a few minutes. The door-bell rang around 3 times while I tried to relax. After a couple of couriers and some other unwanted intrusions, I almost fell asleep when my little one came to me with a ‘poop and clean’ request! Once that was done, as if not enough, I came out only to find that my Dog had pooped all around his bedding, while he stood there waiting to be cleaned too! Was this some kind of test from the Gods? Because, if this was some kind of heavenly thrill, it wasn’t very entertaining to me!
The ultimate trauma, where again I had no one to blame or punch, was when I went to grab a sandwich (which I had to make myself), as the cleaning process got me even more exhausted and hungry! While I took my very first bite and before it went into my tummy, my upper and lower jaw thought of coming together, ignoring the bread and crushing my buccal mucosa (inner cheek)! That indescribable feeling when you’re bitten by yourself! Argh!
Later that evening, my husband arrives home from work, exhausted and cranky, and because the food did not turn out the way he generally likes it, he yells about me having all the time on my hands to get it right as, according to him, I’m not doing anything all day! If I was a violent person, I imagined myself pouncing on him and pulling his hair out in all directions! And, maybe even biting him!
