What is the best thing to wear to bed? They say that sleeping in the nude is the best because of its various benefits like you tend to fall asleep faster, it helps keep your skin healthy, it helps reduce stress and anxiety and, the best of all, it helps prevent weight gain. But, however, beneficial it may be, I cannot get myself to sleep in the nude, especially, when I am not sleeping alone. Also, you may have seen loads of different types of sleepwear for women online and wondered why you are not comfortable with the lingerie ones. Well, some of us are just built that way. We need comfortable clothes to sleep in.

Besides, there are health benefits of comfortable sleepwear for women, too. It helps keep your body warm, comfortable and cosy so that you have a good night’s sleep. Also, full pants, instead of shorts, help you to avoid the chills at night. But how do you choose your comfortable sleepwear so that you get the best sleep possible?

  1. Fabric: The fabric of your pyjamas should be chosen well. Normal climates would require you to wear nightwear made preferably of lightweight cotton, which is breathable and therefore allows air circulation. Silk pyjamas are magical regulators that keep your body warm in cool temperatures and cool in warm temperatures. If you live in a cold country, a pair of flannel pyjamas would be apt.
  2. Fit and Fittings: When you shop for sleepwear for women, the fit matters too. Consider lose jammies that can easily move around your body. Avoid fittings like buttons, snaps and tags that can be problematic as they can cause itching and irritation during the night. Also, make sure the elastics are not very tight to restrict blood circulation or not very lose to slip away as you snooze.
  3. Feet: Don’t forget your feet and get some lightweight socks for the night. There are benefits of sleeping with socks on but for me, it was merely the comfort I felt that made me continue wearing socks in bed. But remember, avoid wearing the same ones you spent your day in. 

Moreover, there are disadvantages of sleeping in tight clothing, including skin-tight underwear. Besides being uncomfortable, sleeping with body-hugging garments can disrupt your beauty sleep. Similarly, wearing tight bras to bed can constrict the pectoral muscles. So yes, going braless to bed, under your sleepwear for women, is best for your body, mind and soul. Ultimately, personal comfort is what matters the most while picking the right sleepwear for women. It can be a silk robe, classic cotton, a stretchy sleep shirt or nothing at all. Sleeping comfortably can also include sleeping on your side with a pillow between your feet or sleeping on your stomach without any pillows around you. At the end of the day, it all depends on you, your sleep pattern and your love for the comfortable way of life.
