The Hobby Place that started six years ago in Mysore has found its way into our very own Bangalore. This place was grandly inaugurated by the well-known Indian actor Ramesh Aravind who loves art himself.
We had visited during the inauguration and were thrilled to know of such a vibrant art center opening up here in Bangalore.
The owner Mrs Savita Shenoy Ranga said that she began this with the intention of having a place to let go and feel free; a place where people could just come, draw, create and go home with a sense of satisfaction. Coming to think of it, yes, sometimes I do feel the need to express my creativity outside the house. So, in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of life in Bangalore, there are several reasons why I thought one must visit this creative art studio.
Do read below to find out more.
LOVED THE CONCEPT: As an artist myself, I totally loved the concept. There was colour everywhere and the kids were quite curious about what was going on inside. I felt that this was the perfect place to nurture the artist in me.
NO CREATIVE HAND? NO PROBLEM: You do not have to have a creative hand or be an artist to enrol yourself here. Everyone is welcome to try any form of art they fancy.
AGE IS NO BAR: The best part of the place is that all ages can come together and have a good time. My 2.5 year old son and 60 year old mother both expressed their creativity on the same canvas and enjoyed painting trees and leaves and more. It was pretty cute.
WALK IN: Unless there is an event happening here, you are free to casually walk in when you feel your mind needs to do something different. My kids were happily messy trying resin art while I tried my hand at some kinnal art.
POTTERY LESSONS: If pottery excites you, then this is the place you should certainly visit. We will be going there soon especially for this session.
CLUB FOR READERS AND LISTENERS: There is a Book Club for avid readers where you can just sit and read in SILENCE. Am I enticing any new moms reading this? I know how some of us NEED this. Also, storytelling sessions take place here, so you can bring your toddlers for some of them.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: This is a good place for an activity based birthday party because older children are done with play areas, aren’t they? Contact The Hobby Place for charges and options.
PRIVILEGED ONES: Right now, only the ones living in Mysore and Bangalore are lucky to be able to splash some paint as well as mould some pots and read some books all under one roof. Let’s make use of it.
HAPPY STAFF: The place has amazing staff that are well versed with children. My kids did not want to leave the place because ‘aunty’ would show them more ways to create different paintings. If they had it their way, I think my kids would even spend the night there.
FOLLOW THEM FOR UPDATES: You can follow them on FB and Instagram and get updates on various workshops by different artists from all over the country. Visual and performing artists are invited here to create, teach and inspire you.
Yes, all of this and more is happening under one single roof; umbrella painting, pottery, story-telling, yoga, muay thai, theatre workshops, phonics and so much more. So, what’s keeping you from visiting The Hobby Place or taking your kids there to have a joint activity with them this weekend?
