A long overdue fellowship amongst some of us finally came to be. One of the advantages of living in India is that you can make an event out of any weekend you want! The vast country, stretching from Kashmir in the North to Kanyakumari in the South, allows us to drive anywhere provided we have the time and enthusiasm for it! Early, one Sunday morning, we (six couples) got onto six noisy but supercool Harley machines and rode through the wonderfully wide Bellary road all the way to Chikkaballapura district. Three considerate friends decided to join us in a sedan because they couldn’t manage the bikes for various reasons and also wondered where everyone would keep their belongings. This proved to be the lifeline of the trip!
Even though the rays of the sun burnt our backs every time we stopped, the cool breeze made up for it once we were back on the road enjoying every moment of bliss. We passed infinite areas of green landscapes, outlined by rocky hills that gave a stunning postcard picture! In a distance, we could see various hills covered with mud, trees or clouds giving us a colourful sight. It was an overwhelming view which included some silent romance on the motorcycles! Not only were we enjoying the breeze but also the mere realization that the children seemed to be revelling in sniffing the wind through the sun-roof of the car.
The first stop, which did not only include photographs, was for a delicious breakfast where we had some yummy idlis and masala dosas. The masaharis devoured on some scrambled eggs and chicken fry! One of the men played the guitar while we, and the restaurant staff, enjoyed singing along various bilingual songs! Once we were all done filling our bellies, we hit the road again. While inhaling the slightly damp atmosphere, the racing started. Each of us won at some point or the other.
After lunch, on our way back, we experienced a biker’s torture as we rode through rain and cold wind with no cover anywhere in sight! None of us were prepared for this type of weather though it poured a little almost every single day! Only the ones in the car were completely dry! But, to our good fortune, it lasted only for 10 minutes. Wet with sweat and rain, we reached back to pavilion before the sun set. We were exhausted but it was worth every aching part of our bodies! It was truly a remarkable experience which forced us all to plan another ride soon. After all, this was India! Another weekend, another destination was all we needed to continue this amazing experience!
